Sleep and insomnia

When we sleep we go through several stages.

This fist stage is called light sleep. We begin to feel drowsy and we lose focus about the things going around us. During this stage we can be woken up easily. People who are woken up  affects this stage by not entering in this stage. If you suffer from Insomnia, you won't get drowsy, you will lie awake.

The 2nd stage of the Sleep cycle is entering deep sleep. You get sleepier and the noises around you fade away. Dreams are rare in this stage.

The 3rd stage is deep sleep. In this stage, dreaming is a lot more prevalent. It is harder to wake up and if you are woken up you will be very groggy and unsettled. In this stage the important aspects of sleep take place. Your mind processes your memories and your body heals injuries. Also, in youth, growth takes place.

This stage is followed by REM. Rapid eye movement. This stage you have vivid dreams. You also wake up refreshed after this stage.

Insomnia impedes this process and its important to learn how to stop it.
